Welcome to The Tecumseh Theater: The Soul of the Little Cities

We are located at 114-116 West Main Street in the National Register of Historic Places District in Shawnee, Ohio.

The building was built in 1908 and saved from the wrecking ball in 1976. Today, the exterior of the building is completely renovated and eyes are now focused on the second-story opera house for renovation.

Watch this “Driving With Darbee” video, produced by WOSU Public Television, where Jeff Darbee and Nancy Recchie revisit where they had their first date together.

You, too, can come visit the Tecumseh Theater, and discover the history and nature of Shawnee. You can also imagine what the future might be like as we continue to renovate and hold the theater up together.

“If we didn’t have the theater, there would be no gathering. From local people to out of town people, the first thing they say is ‘can we go upstairs?’ Without the people who care for and love the theater, it wouldn’t be here.”

– Deb Hutmire, Shawnee resident
