Opening Night Volunteer Program
Reviving a historic theater is a team effort!
We invite you to join our Volunteer Program to help support the opening and operations of the historic Tecumseh Theater and Commons on Opening Night.
As a volunteer, you'll receive free access to our Grand (re)Opening Night show. There are numerous opportunities to contribute your time, skills, creativity, and enthusiasm.
Opportunities are available in several areas, including bartending (21+), ushering, merchandise sales, production assistance, set-up and clean-up, and parking assistance.
Volunteers may help with greeting and seating patrons, running concessions and merchandise, assisting backstage with productions, preparing event spaces, or helping direct traffic and parking.
Whether you enjoy working with guests or helping behind the scenes, there’s a role for everyone.
So Where is Tuesday Creek?
Tuesday Creek is an imagined community inspired by the people, stories and spirit of this region. It exists as a way to share where we’ve been, where we are, and where we hope to go as a region rebuilding its culture, identity and economy.
Our show, “Live From Tuesday Creek,” is rooted in the history and future of the Little Cities of Black Diamonds region. The Shawnee microregion, including the communities surrounding Sunday and Monday Creeks, sits within two watersheds deeply shaped by coal mining and within the footprint of the Athens Unit of the Wayne National Forest.
As part of each monthly “Live From Tuesday Creek” show, audiences will get the chance to see This Time Around, an ongoing mini-play series following the characters and community of Tuesday Creek. Through each episode, the town and its residents will continue to grow, inviting audiences to return each month and become part of the story over time.
The show invites audiences to the fictional town of Tuesday Creek, a once-booming company town greatly inspired by Southern Perry County. Through three distinct timelines, viewers will follow the lives of local families as they navigate the challenges of the coal boom, the Civilian Conservation Corps era, and the social shifts of the 1960s.
Molly H. Donahue
Meet Our Series Director
Molly H. Donahue is a theatre artist and director living and working in Athens, Ohio. She got her MFA in directing from Ohio University after spending seven years in the Chicago storefront theatre scene. She most recently worked as the director for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel with the Ohio University Opera program. Her first ever job was with an historic theater in North Carolina called, Horn in the West.
As a member of the management team, she helped bring epic, historical theater to life in a beautiful outdoor setting in the Appalachian Mountains. Since then, she has held a lot of love for theater rooted in the local history of a community—especially Appalachian communities! She is absolutely honored to be a part of Sunday Creek Associates and Live from Tuesday Creek during the reopening of the Tecumseh Theater.
